WHY SONGSBURY STUDIOS?
We should start by saying that not every artist/band/project that comes our way is automatically booked to work in the studio. We are dedicated to creating not only art, but long lasting working relationships with all of our artistic partners.
How we are able to do this is by only taking on projects that we believe we can help bring to life and materialize for our guests. When working many hours together in the recording studio, it is extremely important that both you and Mat (Songsbury) are able to create a positive and creative environment. Not every engineer/producer is right for every artist and vice versa. Before we book any project, we schedule a meeting at the studio (if possible) or a video call. This initial meeting is FREE and allows us to discuss the goals, requirements, and deadlines of your project. We want you to love the space you’re going to work in as well as the people working with you.
Along with the great working relationships we are looking to create, we provide a world-class, professional recording space with extremely high quality equipment. The recording studio is able to accommodate a large variety of projects and is the only recording studio in the building, which provides you and your band/team with complete privacy and focus.
A MESSAGE FROM MAT (SONGSBURY)
Let me introduce myself! I am Mat Teofilo (aka Songsbury) and I am the owner and operator of Songsbury Studios.
I had worked out of my home for over 20 years, which was a great starting platform for me to create my roots in the industry and work with many artists and film projects, but I always had a dream of creating a space that not only I can go to to do my creative work, but that I can share with others and help inspire them. This is where the name “Songsbury” came from. It happens to be my artist/producer name that I go by in this industry, but it represents something larger than myself. It is the place in my mind that I always go to when creating. Over the years, I found myself creating not only by and for myself, but with many others. In a sense, we were all going to Songsbury to create. This recording studio is just a physical manifestation of that original place in my mind. It is a place where we are able to create a growing and thriving community of audio art. All forms of art are all languages that transcend the traditional language barriers of the languages we speak.
In saying all of this, I want to first express my gratitude for you finding out about Songsbury Studios. I’m also grateful that you are a part of the world that is making a difference in people’s lives through art. I believe that every project is important because it holds a message that needs to be heard. When I take on a project, I care for it like it is my own and I do not forget that I am helping to bring a message to life. I am here to work with you to help achieve your audio goals and I can’t wait to see what comes out!

THE STUDIO
Songsbury Studios is a world class recording studio owned by Mat (Songsbury) Teofilo and designed by Martin Pilchner of Pilchner Schoustal International Inc. After two years of construction, the studio was completed in 2023.
The 1,300 sq. ft. recording studio is found on the main floor and is home to a certified Dolby Atmos control room, a large live room with a 20 ft. ceiling, a 1976 Yamaha C7 grand piano, and a spacious isolation booth. All rooms are completely isolated and are acoustically designed and treated.
The studio has a warm and “at home” feel with the ability to change the lighting to any color to better suit the mood and vibe of the artist(s) creating within the space.
Amenities include a lounge, kitchenette with coffee/espresso/tea/water, WIFI, a covered loading bay, and free parking.
The recording studio is wheelchair accessible and its amenities are private and sound isolated from any other facilities in the building.
Songsbury Studios is located 20 minutes from Pearson International Airport and 10 minutes from Vaughan Metropolitan Subway Station. There are numerous restaurants in the area with plenty of catering options. For out of town artists, there are numerous hotels minutes from the studio.

ABOUT MAT
Mat Teofilo (aka Songsbury) is a singer, songwriter, composer, producer and recording/mix/mastering engineer.
Songsbury started playing piano at the age of four and starting writing songs at age 12. He was awarded his Performer’s ARCT from the Royal Conservatory of Music and studied at both Unionville High School (in the Arts York Program) and at Humber College in the piano program.
Songsbury began recording at 14 and has been working in the recording industry for over 20 years. He has worked with numerous artists including Madonna, Miley Cyrus and Diplo. Songsbury obtained a gold record for his songwriting on Diplo’s Revolution.
Songsbury’s film credits include films seen on multiple streaming platforms as well as in festivals across the world (including Cannes Film Festival)
